As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, you will provide direct mental health counseling and psychotherapeutic treatment services to individuals and families served by the program to which you are assigned. The tasks and activities performed by a Licensed Mental Health Counselor vary based on the agency, facility, program, and/or setting. Services may include, but are not limited to:
conduct risk assessment screenings, and provide crisis intervention, stabilization, and follow-up services; present clinical information and observations, and provide consultation and assistance to staff in other disciplines; and coordinate the care and treatment planning of one or more individuals served by the team. You will also participate in staff training, prepare clinical and administrative reports, and function as a member of a treatment team. May supervise and train counseling interns and graduates, lower-level counselors, and/or support staff. Notes:
1. If you fail to maintain your license and/or registration once you are appointed, action will be taken to remove you from the position. 2. In order to be eligible for appointment and to maintain employment, you cannot be listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of the Federal and/or State Medicaid and Medicare exclusion lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program). If you are appointed and subsequently listed as an excluded individual or entity on any of these lists (or excluded from any other Federal or Federally assisted program), you may be terminated from your employment. 3. From $64589 to $82036 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Possession of a license and current registration as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State. The LMHC Civil Service examination is now open and will be accepting applications from July 1, 2022 - July 31, 2022. Applications will be accepted during the month of July.
